Technical Manager

Job Description:

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a hands-on role with overall control of quality systems. You will ensure that:

•HACCP plan is regularly reviewed and amended for new products, ingredients and processes
•All CCPs are understood and supporting documentation is audited
•Product quality and consistency is maintained by regular and spot audits of the manufacturing process and leading periodic taste panels
•All requirements for the SALSA standards are met
•All Soil Association requirements are met and MIPS approved
•Traceability of raw materials and finished products is maintained
•Suppliers are audited on a risk basis as per the agreed schedule
•Internal audits are run regularly
•Action production and operational issues at production meetings
•All product specs are kept up to date
•Nutricalc tests a run for new products
•New line specifications are supplied for customers
•Production meetings are taken and minuted at regular monthly intervals
•Consolidate daily sales summary and input figures into a database.
•Induction of new staff.
•Artwork Ingredient/Nutrition Data Origination.
•Artwork submissions and proof reading.
•Update annual audits on equipment such as metal detector, scales, temperature probes etc.
•Input and upkeep of Barcode Label Machine.
•To write minutes for Production, Technical and Supervisor Meetings.
•Purchase Staff PPE/Work Clothes/Boots.
Quality Control
•Maintain Quality Manual and production records to ensure these are updated and reviewed as scheduled.
•Ensure that regular tastings of all batches are being undertaken.
•Undertaking monthly traceability and hygiene audits
•Responsible for all microbiological, swab and raw materials checks – to be carried out regularly and recorded
•Weekly audits of Glass, Knife equipment, scale calibration, temperature probe calibration
•Twice daily temperature checks.
•Weekly review of cleaning records.
You will also be responsible for food health & safety, and factory health & safety.
The suitable applicant must have recent previous experience in a similar role and ideally hold the following certificates:
•HACCP Level 3 or above.
•Level 3 Supervising Food Safety
•Health and Safety IOSH Certification (not essential)
•Certified fork-lift driver an advantage
