TNA(Tansition Newton Abbot) have recently been given the use of a piece of land owned by the Town Council which, in spite of several efforts to achieve a use for the area, has remained unused for many years. With this land we are involving the local community in the creation of a community space for which the main purpose will be the growing of fruit and vegetables. Other uses will include a wildlife/wetland area and an area to sit and relax and small scale composting and recycling. The design and use of the garden will be guided by the community.
Vicary’s Field is near Baker’s Park in Newton Abbot. Baker’s Park is on the right as you exit NA towards Totnes on Wolborough Street. Turn right into Stepps Meadow and park in the car park at the end. From here walk across the footbridge over the River Lemon and Vicary’s Field is immediately on your left. The garden has limited parking and can also be reached on foot and cycle via the cycle/footpath from Asda in the town centre.
The community garden is open to public/community every Saturday from 10am-12pm, either to pop in and look around or help out.
All welcome – under 14’s must be accompanied by an adult.
